Student Representative Council 2023 Installation and Handover Ceremony

Nilai, 19th April 2023 - The Student Representative Council (SRC) 2023 Installation and Handover Ceremony was held at the Function Room this morning. One of MIU's responsibilities as an institution is to develop students with leadership potential. The SRC is one way to nurture and encourage this skill in our students. Over the years, MIU’s SRC team managed to organised, handling and assisting with any related issues/matters.
The ceremony was officiated by the opening speech by Manipal International University, MIU Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Jason Fitzsimmons.
“I strongly hope that this new leadership can elevate MIU to a higher level, demonstrating that MIU is deserving the title as one of top international university.”
“As a university that believe in the power of young leadership, we want this council to be the platform for them to communicate their issues and at the same time, the opportunity to enhance their skills before they start with the career world,” he added.
After the VC speech, the ceremony was followed by the handover of Appreciation Certificates to the past SRC team, represented by the former President, Ms. Britney Loh.
The ceremony continued with speech from the newly elected President, Ms. Shareezah Mariam Farooq, and official handover of the Appointment Letters.
“Words cannot express how very honored I am to be here today serving as Manipal International University's student representative, and how grateful I am for the opportunity I was given,” said Shareezah.
According to her, she will embark on this journey to be the voice of all Manipal students and communicate with the Management to discuss the best solutions for both parties.
“Working closely with our management and the rest of the student council to represent our university and ensure that we have a strong presence in the school community. As a student representative, I am hoping we will have a significant impact on our school community,” she added.
The ceremony ended with a group photography session.
