Why does the university have to change its name?
It was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, that the new management chose an alternative name for the institution that is MILA University. Because with the transfer of ownership of the university from Manipal Global Education Group, the institution could not retain the use of the word "Manipal" as part of the name of the university.
What does MILA mean?
There are several reasons for the choice of MILA Univeristy as the new name for our institution. Firstly, Manipal International University is situated in Negeri Sembilan. The translation of "Sembilan" into Chinese yields "Sen Meilan," which incorporates the term "Meilan." Furthermore, "Mila" also holds significance in Chinese culture as it refers to a type of flower, specifically the orchid. Orchids are emblematic of individuals possessing exceptional qualities such as brilliance, elegance, kindness, and purity. Our hope is that students of MILA University will embody these virtues, ultimately evolving into ethical global citizens. We hold a deep sense of trust and belief in the university's potential to continue evolving as a truly international institution.
