MIU STEM Innovation Lab is a space build within a community to bring the community members – students, educators, parents, industry experts together to encourage the activity of digital making. It links people from different sectors and background to come together in a community context to contribute to the spreading and mastery of digital making knowledge.

What makes MIU STEM Innovation Lab different from other exploration centres is that it provides a place to ignite STEM learning though collaborative practical experiences.

By stimulating the imagination of students through practical problem-solving exercises, MIU STEM Innovation Lab liberates STEM from subject-based textbooks.

Students and educators are encouraged to make real-world connections between STEM learning and STEM careers.

The MIU STEM Innovation Lab encourages collaboration that can be applied to any subject area, where communication is as important as technology.

MIU STEM Innovation Lab uses technology as the medium to provide students and educators with practical, real-life skills which include critical thinking and problem solving.

As well as developing practical skills, MIU STEM Innovation Lab aims to be a catalyst for change by demonstrating to both students and educators what’s possible with technology, fostering creativity, shaping ambition and cultivating ideas.

MIU STEM Innovation Lab acts as a multipurpose resource room used by different classes and educators with the intention to build and make different kinds of STEM products – ranging from microcontrollers, robotics Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning. It should have a conducive and positive learning environment where anyone can learn new skill and to share ideas on their own digital project.

It is important that MIU STEM Innovation Lab is equipped with diverse tools, materials and learning resources that is made available for its members that could help nudge them to invent and embark on a digital making project. Showcasing past projects can be crucial in giving inspiration to members that are new to the scene.
